The Seventh Moon... where did we get that name?
Finding a name for my business was no easy decision. The Seventh Moon was a dream of many years, brought to fruition at a turning point in my life. It was this change of seasons (so to speak) that helped me in the selection of the name. The Seventh Moon is the crescent moon nearest the Autumn equinox. This moon signals the beginning of a new cycle of creation according to many ancient traditions. The Cherokee call this the Great New Moon and believe it is when the world is created each year. As true as the name was in the beginning, it remains so each year. I continue on a path of growth and change with The Seventh Moon. My hope is that we connect and share in this journey together. ~ Xandria
Xandria LD Ahner, Owner, Licensed Massage Therapist, Energy Worker
In practice since: 1994 PA License # MSG000863
Xandria’s journey into wellness began with the art and practice of meditation while she fulfilled her 10-year commitment to active duty Air Force. It was during this journey while being stationed near Fairbanks, Alaska that she discovered the healing benefits of not only receiving massage therapy, but also giving.
After completing nearly 1,400 hours of massage therapy education and working with clients for over 20 years, Xandria built a growing and ever-changing business that is The Seventh Moon Wellness Spa.
In 2012, the years of dedicated hard work began to take a toll on Xandria’s body and she had to have an anterior cervical fusion. A short return to work resulted in more spinal issues that forced her out of the room and into management of the spa full time.
Xandria continues to focus her passion for the field of wellness and all it encompasses to create a retreat for everyone to utilize in their own personal journey.
Rowan Laitila, Artist in Residence
Rowan has been a part of The Seventh Moon since the very beginning. With each passing year, her job description seems to grow to include different tasks and projects. Her first big job of setting out water and chocolates for clients after massages grew into answering the telephone and booking appointments (terrifying!), e-mail marketing, and commanding the social media accounts. Her immense knowledge of every aspect of the business combined with her keen creative eye makes her a valuable asset at The Seventh Moon.
Rowan is currently a full-time Art History student at Moravian College, set to graduate in May 2017. She practices many art forms in her personal time and excels in the medium of paint. She has won Scholastic Art and Writing Awards on three occasions, sending her artwork to be judged Nationally in New York City. A member of the Moravian College Visual Art Collective, she is regularly involved in on-campus art events.
Rowan currently offers Painting Parties, Studio Workshops, and teaches Summer Art for Kids. She uses her immense knowledge of art history to inform her studio practice and hopes to be able to pass on a love and thirst for knowledge to all of her pupils.

Barbara Yamrich, Licensed Massage Therapist
In practice since: 1999 PA Massage License # MSG008271
Barbara, a New York native, who relocated to Carbon County in 1985, has been a trained massage therapist for 14 years. A graduate of Health Options Institute, Bethelehm, PA. Barb is a fully licensed therapeutic massage practitioner in Pennsylvania and is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. She also carries a Karuna Reiki Master certification through Infinity Reiki Masters, New Hope, PA.
Schooled in many modalities, including Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports massage, she practices a unique style of integrative bodywork that blends several massage techniques together with energy balancing therapies like Reiki and Polarity; providing a deeply relaxing, effective and personally tailored treatment. Although clients are free to choose a specific modality, Barb's preference is to just "let it flow." This allows her to draw, by instinct on a broad base of training. She brings elements of focused work, such as Neuromuscular Therapy and Trigger Point Release together with more systemic, exotic styles like Shiatsu and LomiLomi, blending all into one diverse, health supporting mix. Over the years, Barb has operated her own massage therapy office in Jim Thorpe as well as worked at several hotels and spas throughout the area. This variety of professional ventures has gained her hands on experience with warm and cold stone therapies, body wraps, herbal and clay pack applications, and hot towel and steam treatments, as well as traditional massage and Reiki practice.
A yoga person and natural foods enthusiast since her teens, Barbara is also a self-trained chef and former restaurateur. She owned and operated a successful "art food" restaurant in Jim Thorpe for 13 years with her family, before experiencing career related burn-out and illness. It was during the resulting search for relief and healing that Barbara was introduced to Naturopathic medicine and then to therapeutic massage as a treatment modality. Finding the results so profound, Barb began studies with her doctor upon her return to health, and enrolled in a massage therapy education program shortly after that. Regarding this journey, Barbara finds it "Amazing that what seemed at first, a personal disaster, has turned out to be a personal transformation." Barb's hopes for the future include further study that might one day bring her two career paths of food service and alternative health, together for work in food-based medicine and herbalism .

Mareen Thomas-Norman, Usui Reiki Master Practitioner and Chios Energy Healer
Mareen is a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has been an open intuitive channel her whole life. She is also an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church. Mareen has a master degree of multiple Energetic Healing modalities including Usui Reiki and Chios Energy Healing as well as being a constant student for other modalities. Tiffany's journey to becoming a fitness instructor started in January 2015. At that time, she was realizing that she would be turning 30 that year and decided it was time to work on becoming healthier both inside and out in order to be a positive role model for her daughter, Miranda. In that time, she started eating healthier and exercising on a normal basis and attending various exercise classes. In June 2015, she found out that there was going to be a new instructor certification offered by Beachbody called Cize Live. Cize is a dance based exercise that was perfect for Tiffany because she enjoys dance exercise classes and has a strong dance background. With encouragement from family and friends, she decided to get certified in August 2015. After teaching Cize for several months, Tiffany found that being a fitness instructor was her calling. She went on to getting certified in PiYo in February 2016, Country Heat in July 2016, Group Fitness Trainer in February 2017, and Barre Above in April 2017. Tiffany believes in adapting her classes to her participants' abilities. She understands that everyone's range of motion is different because all of our bodies are uniuqe to us. Her goal is to have all participants feeling successful, rejuvenated, and great after each class.

Why don't we have a receptionist?
In an effort to keep our prices affordable, we don't have a receptionist at The Seventh Moon. The median salary for a receptionist in the area is close to $30,000 per year. Imagine what our prices would be to cover this amount. We offer real-time online appointment scheduling, online gift certificate purchases, email contact and prompt customer service when you call the spa and leave a message. We do everything possible to provide you with the quality service you expect and deserve. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
